Losing Yourself to People Pleasing
If you've spent so long being what everyone else needs that you've forgotten who you actually are — this one's for you.
Read more →I'm David — a person-centred counsellor based in Anfield, Liverpool. I work with people who are carrying things that feel too heavy to carry alone: anxiety, low mood, past experiences, a loss, or just the feeling that something needs to change but you're not sure what. I offer in-person sessions in Anfield and online counselling across the UK. Whatever brings you here, the space is yours.
Not ready to talk yet? That's fine. Have a look around. There's no pressure here and no form to fill in unless you want to.
Everyone who comes to counselling is dealing with something different. These are the areas I work in most — click through to any of them for more detail about how I approach each one.
Racing thoughts, constant worry, that sense of dread that sits just under the surface. Anxiety can be exhausting to live with. We look at what's driving it, not just how to manage it.
More about anxiety support →Past experiences that are still showing up in the present — as tension, avoidance, hypervigilance, or just a feeling you can't quite name. We work at your pace, with your safety as the priority.
More about trauma counselling →When everything feels flat and getting through the day takes everything you have. We work at whatever pace makes sense — there's no pressure to perform progress.
More about depression support →That critical inner voice that never stops. We can learn to understand where it comes from and turn the volume down.
More about building confidence →Big changes — career shifts, relationships ending, becoming a parent, or just feeling like you need to re-evaluate everything. You don't have to figure this out alone.
More about life transitions →Sometimes we don't know what's wrong, only that something needs to change. That restlessness, that sense you're not living the life you want. That's enough to start.
More about feeling stuck →A space where you don't have to perform strength. Whether it's stress, anger, isolation, or just not feeling right, I understand the particular pressures men face.
More about men's counselling →Specialist bereavement support for miscarriage, stillbirth, termination for medical reasons, and early infant death. Including dedicated support for fathers processing this grief.
More about pregnancy & infant loss support →Person-centred counselling means you set the direction. I'm not here to assess you, fix you, or hand you a list of things to do differently. I'm here to listen — properly — and to help you understand yourself more clearly. That's what actually moves things.
I'm not here to fix you — because you're not broken. I'm here to sit with you in whatever you're experiencing, to really listen, and to help you find your own way back to yourself.
I work from a quiet, comfortable space in Anfield, Liverpool — easily accessible from Walton, Kirkdale, Everton and the wider city. I also offer online sessions if that feels safer or easier for you right now. Street parking is available nearby, and I'm well-served by buses from the city centre.
I've trained specifically in helping people through anxiety, depression, trauma, and the really hard life stuff like bereavement and pregnancy loss. I have particular experience supporting men through grief, including the complex emotions that come with baby loss from a father's perspective. Most importantly, I believe that healing happens when we feel truly heard and accepted. No judgment. No rush. Just a safe space to be exactly where you are.
